Vaporizer Review- Whip Based Vaporizer,
Sturdy Design
The VaporTech
is the first whip based vaporizer on the
market. This vaporizer was awarded many
Cannabis Cup Victories. Although this is not
the most efficient vaporizer it was built at
a time when vaporizers were limited. The
heating element used is metal, which makes
this vaporizer not a health aspect design.

The Vaportech Vaporizer
The Vaportech vaporizer is
produced in Florida, by the Vapor Tech
company, and has been a winner in the High
Times awards many times. It actually won
the Cannabis Cup in 1998 and 1999 and, from
that time until 2003, came a worthy second.
Since then, of course, the results of
National Organization for Reform of
Marijuana Laws (NORML) studies have been
responsible for even more sophisticated
devices entering the market. Devices like
the Vapezilla and the Volcano.
There is still room, however,
for a low to mid-range vaporizer, such as
the Vaportech. The base unit of the
Vaportech is
4.5 inches in diameter at the
very bottom and 3.5 inches in diameter at
the top. The unit is 4.75 inches tall.
Essentially, it looks like a
small white drum. When you get the kit, it
comes with a plastic hose, two glass tubes,
two glass test tubes, a glass tube with
stopper and a metal tube. Sounds like you
could furnish a laboratory, doesn’t it!
The manufacturers do not
supply detailed information about the
materials used in the construction of the
Vaportech, so I can’t specify if the
glassware is borosilicate (Pyrex™) or not.
I can’t, for that matter, even tell you
what type of heating element is used. This
sort of information is very important for
some people. They want to know if aluminum
is involved, or what material is used to
insulate the heating element. If this
information is important to you this
may be a major obstacle in choosing this
particular vaporizer as far as you are
concerned.
I can tell you that the metal
tube that comes with your vapeing kit is
aluminum, because that is mentioned in the
instructions for use. I actually find the
instructions given quite complex but, at the
time of writing, I do not have the Vaportech
in front of me and that would, of course,
help a great deal!
First, place the
aforementioned aluminium tube into the
heating chamber at the top of the unit and
then turn the unit on to start the heating
process, which takes approximately four to
five minutes.
Whilst you are waiting for
the unit to heat, you get everything else
ready. So, assemble the plastic hose and
glass tube by inserting the tapered end of
the glass tube (with the indent ring) into
the end of the plastic hose. (It would
perhaps be a good idea to use the
time-honoured trick of warming the end of
the plastic hose in a cup of boiling water
so that it is easier to insert the glass
tube).
Loosely pack some of your
herbal mixture into the non-tapered end of
the glass tube, and then insert it into the,
by now warmed, aluminium tube you inserted
into the unit earlier. Give it a couple of
seconds and start drawing on the plastic
tubing.
The manufacturers of the
Vaportech do offer an alternative method of
use, but I find that even more complicated
to follow, and will leave you with the basic
method as described above.
The Vaportech is available in
various voltage requirements, and extra
hoses and tubes are available at very
reasonable cost. The complete system costs
around $150, so it’s not wildly expensive
and, if customer testimonials are anything
to go by, once you’ve decoded the
instructions, it is very easy and effective
to use.
