Benzoin
Warning: Benzoin should not be used where concentration is essential, for example, when driving, due to its strong relaxant properties.
Benzoin is extracted from the trunk of the Styrax Benzoin tree, which grows in ava, Sumatra and Thailand; it has been used for aromatherapy since ancient times, both for fragrancing and healing the body. The perfume alone is enough to make you feel better; in fact it is a classic incense ingredient.
To obtain this resin, slashes are cut into the tree trunks and the sap allowed to run; eventually, this sap crystallises, which is when it is collected.
